Lanai Road PTA's mission is to strengthen the natural bond and enhance the essential partnership between parents and teachers at Lanai
Road Elementary School; to develop and nourish the academic and cultural character and integrity of the school; and to develop
programs, events, activities and forums to deepen the dialogue between teachers and parents such that teachers receive the support they
need, parents receive the feedback they seek, and students receive the enriched educational experience they deserve.
Thank you all for your commitment to making
Lanai Road Elementary School the best that it can be!
National PTA Reflections Program
Each year, the National PTA Reflections Program challenges students to create art that supports a specific theme. The Reflections
Program is structured for PTAs to recognize students at the local, council, district, state, and national levels. Entries are first judged at
the local level, where selected works are chosen to represent the PTA at each subsequent level-council, district, or state. Once entries
reach the state level, the state PTA may select entries to submit to the National PTA. Awards of Excellence and Awards of Merit are
recognized at the annual National PTA Convention and displayed in a virtual gallery on National PTA's website.
2011/2012 Reflections Program
This year's theme is "Diversity Means…" Students may submit an entry in any of the arts areas listed below. Only original works of art
are accepted. Students may only submit a total of two entries per category, but they can enter as many categories as they want. The six
categories are as follows:
Visual Arts
Photography
Literature
Dance Choreography
Film/Video Production
Musical Composition

Participation in the Reflections Program is organized by school grade. Student works are critiqued against others in the same grade
division. This allows recognition and judging of artworks by appropriate developmental age and skill levels. The four grade divisions are as
follows:
-Primary – Preschool – Grade 2 or up to age 7
-Intermediate – Grades 3-5 or ages 8-10
-Middle/Junior – Grades 6-8 or ages 11-13
-Senior – Grades 9-12 or ages 14+
This program runs in the fall semester, usually during November. For more information contact Lanai Reflections Program Co-Chairs:
Courtenay Fletcher & Erika Phillips.
